<p><strong>We  hope you all had a good summer.  We are gearing up for another great  year of music and dance classes, workshops and special events.  We had a  great turnout at our AGM in June and our new committee is hard at work  preparing for this year&#8217;s schedule of events.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Enrolment  for our music classes will be held on Monday, September 6th, 6-9 pm at  the beautifully restored Crescent Arts Centre. Tutors will be on hand to  answer queries about instrument hire or class levels.  It is important  to enrol on this night! Places cannot be guaranteed after this date.   Classes begin Monday, September 13th and run for 11 weeks with a  two-week break over Halloween.  The last day of classes will be December  11th and the End of Term Concert and Ceili will be held that night.<br />

<p>The Crescent Arts Centre is now up and running in all its renovated glory. <strong> Enrolment for the summer term is Tuesday, May 4th, from 6-9pm at the Crescent, 2-4 University Rd.</strong> We are looking forward to our classes in this beautiful space and happy that the music and dance classes will be together again under the same roof.</p>
<p>We are delighted to report that our grant application to the Arts Council of Northern Ireland was successful and our funding is secure for another year.  We would like to thank the Arts Council for their continued support of the Society.</p>
<p>Our <strong>AGM will be held Wednesday, June 16th 2010, 7:30 at the Crescent Arts Centre.</strong> We encourage everyone to attend and we are always looking for new ideas, new perspectives and new members.</p>
<p>For anyone interested in learning some French dancing,  Society member <strong>Vanessa Franchetti will be teaching bourees and other French dances at the Down Arts Centre, Downpatrick on Saturday, May 8th, 2-5pm</strong>. For more information contact the Down Arts Centre at: 02844 610 747</p>

Tickets £6 for students (£10 to the  general public).</p>
<p>Ireland&#8217;s premiere fiddle ensemble FIDIL will perform in the Harty Room at 8pm. FIDIL are the first traditional music act ever to be given a 5 star review by the Irish Times for their most recent album &#8217;3&#8242;. This is their first public performance in Northern Ireland and a wonderful opportunity to see a truly world leading musical ensemble in an intimate setting. The band&#8217;s music combines the old fiddle repertoire of Donegal with an innovative and unique approach. Two of group are past recipients of the prestigious &#8216;Gradam Ceoil Young Musician of the Year&#8217; award. This is traditional Irish music as you&#8217;ve never heard it before so don&#8217;t miss this opportunity to see a wonderful group of musicians on top form.</p>
