Join us for the 30th annual Belfast Piping Tionól.
We are delighted to present this programme of piping events curated by legendary Belfast piper Tom Clarke. This tionól celebrates our local piping talent with contributions from Belfast pipers alongside some gifted pipers from further afield.
Offering a combination of online and in-person events, this tionól has something for everyone, no matter what your level of comfort surrounding Covid. More info here.
Jimmy O’Brien Moran starts our weekend with a talk and interview by our local fiddler and academic Martin Dowling. Jimmy will discuss his research into Pipers Before the Great Irish Famine, illustrating the work by collectors such as Goodman, Petrie and their contemporary Forde.

The online advanced piping workshop with Rita Farrell (London) will offer virtual learning with this exceptional young piper.

The intermediate piping workshop with Danny McGreevy (Co. Down) will be in-person and will give attendees an opportunity to learn interesting ornamentations.

Reed Making is facilitated by Belfast-born piper and instrument maker Aaron O’Hagan and will also run in-person. A must for all pipers!

To finish off this fantastic programme, we will conclude with The Piper’s Chair with Fear a’ Tí, Cormac Buzz Ó Briain, another representative of our local talent. This is free concert of piping with music from our tutors and other guests.
