Jimmy O’Brien Moran

The County Waterford man Jimmy O’Brien Moran is highly respected throughout Ireland as a consummate piper and historian of the instrument, its performers, and its repertoire. He has taught the advanced pipes class at the Willie Clancy Summer School since 1977. Jimmy has released two solo albums both of which are renowned in traditional music circles.

Robbie Hannan

Belfast’s own Robbie Hannan is also a highly regarded piper and teacher of the uilleann pipes. He has taught over the years at Scoil Samhradh Willie Clancy and Scoil Acla on Achill Island in Mayo. Like Jimmy, Robbie has released two solo albums that are true gems of the piping tradition, and in collaborations with noted fiddle players such as Paddy Glackin and Dermot McLaughlin has powerfully interpreted the Donegal fiddle repertoire on the uilleann pipes.

Paddy O’hare

Also from Belfast, Paddy is an excellent piper who learned and performed with the McPeake family in Belfast and later with the Antrim band Craobh Rua. He is a talented reed maker who is much in demand in the piping community. His publication “A Guide to Reedmaking For The Uilleann Pipes”, launched at the Leo Rowsome Commemorative event in Na Piobairi Uilleann in 2013, is now one of the most popular publications on the subject today and is considered a benchmark for learning reedmaking for the uilleann pipes.
