Whistle Workshop with Emer Mayock - Sat 29th Feb

BelfastTrad present an afternoon workshop with the whistle player, Emer Mayock, for intermediate to advanced level players.

Emer Mayock is a tin whistle & flute player and uilleann piper from Co. Mayo. She has performed and recorded with a wide range of traditional musicians and collaborated with artists from other traditions most notably the Breton flautist Jean-Michel Veillon. Recent musical projects include the exploration of the 19th Century Goodman Manuscripts with piper Mick O’Brien and fiddle player Aoife Ní Bhriain. Their recording of music from the manuscripts received the TG4 Gradam Cheoil Award in 2014. They will release a second volume of recordings in 2020.  Emer is also involved in the Music of Mayo (musicofmayo.ie) which explores the musical voice of the county through research and the creation of new field recordings and videos of Mayo musicians.

The workshop will explore tone, technique, repertoire and will explore any challenges and questions regarding tin whistle playing introduced by the workshop participants.
