Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh was born and raised in the heartland of the Gaoth Dobhair Gaeltacht in North West Donegal. Mairéad is internationally known as one of the most important fiddle players that play in the unique Donegal style. Aside from playing with world-renowned Altan, Mairéad is known for teaching the Donegal fiddle style at Cairdeas na bhFidiléirí's summer schools and also doing solo work on other projects. She can be heard and seen presenting music programmes on both radio and television, like the longest running well known traditional music RTÉ radio show; 'The Long Note', and traditional music television shows;'The Pure Drop', The Full Set'.,Aniar Aduaidh, , Aistear na nGael for BBC Northern Ireland, and a documentary of common themes in songs over the centuries; Ceol na nGael for RTÉ television.
In this workshop, advanced & upper intermediate level players will be treated to tunes and technique from Mairéad’s Donegal repertoire and style.
